The project Circular Health for Industry has been financed by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo on the call “Intelligenza Artificiale, uomo e società”
The mission of the Circular Health for Industry project is to study how to collect, manage and analyse data, especially in a predictive manner, in a Circular Health approach, without keeping separate data silos about human health, animals and plants, to develop Artificial Intelligence algorithms that work on them, to improve the infrastructure for collecting and analysing such data and to reskill workers for the adoption of AI technologies.
The mission projects will focus on using data and AI techniques to improve the organization of industries for human healthcare, animal welfare, and agrifood safety, preserving and progressing towards sustainable development goals such as the economical, social and environmental ones.
If the healthcare industry term for humans refers first to hospitals, in the veterinarian and agrarian fields it refers first of all to industries for animal breeding, farming and food processing. In particular, the project will focus on the need of reorganizing industries under the light of incoming constant introduction of new technologies based on AI considering also the necessity of reskilling workers to use the new technologies. The dramatic incentive in performance due to the introduction of AI risks to be wasted by keeping the traditional organization of the industry. Processes, often implicit and hidden in
the tacit knowledge of workers, will have to be reconstructed and optimized, so to maximize the gain from innovation on AI and at the same time to benefit from the increasing amount of data generated from the use of AI systems. Analogously, processes must be readapted in case of emergencies, such as the present one.
